Midterm Project: Press Fit Ukulele

For my midterm project, I decided to make a ukulele. From the past lasercutting homework, I already had some basic body prototypes made:

(one where the joints didn’t match up)

(one where the joints kind of matched up, but the size got too big)

And so I started out working on fixing the gaps between the joints, which through lots of trial and error and AutoCADing, I made this prototype where the joints finally closed the gaps.

Finally, the body fit together and the fretboard was attached (with a vinyl giraffe attached). This is the final product without any of the strings on the ukulele.
