a. Who are you and what activities are you engaged in at Rice?
I’m Josh Holder, a sophomore mechanical engineer at McMurtry College. At Rice, I keep pretty busy; I’m the research lead for Rice Eclipse, participate in research for the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab, am a member of the undergraduate orchestra, and play intramural soccer.
b. What is one thing that you have made that you are proud of?
In high school, I wired an interactive Tic-tac-toe game with very rudimentary materials, and it was immensely satisfying to be able to create a product that worked, however rudimentary it was.
c. What is one thing that you want to make (this semester or in the future)?
I want to make a polished looking box for one of my favorite board games, as well as a fully customized chess set.
d. What is one thing that you hope to learn in ENGI 210?
I want to become more familiar on some of the more complicated machines in the OEDK (such as the CNC mill), and really just have a chance to explore my creativity and put some of my ideas into reality.
