There isn’t much documentation for this project because it took 15 minutes but here are the steps I took:

1. Google ‘gear generator’
2. Head to http://hessmer.org/gears/InvoluteSpurGearBuilder.html
3. Make a 40 tooth and 20 tooth gear of the same tooth size without changing any other settings.
4. Download dxf.
5. Import into illustrator.
6. Add a center square.
