my LASER CUT box!

I got to make another box!
I started by using a free online box generator program by putting in my dimensions.

I wanted to personalize my box by adding a cute bunny icon on the design of the box, along with my name, class, and date. I used this icon from noun project.

Then, I opened the file of the box that was generated online on Adobe Illustrator and adjusted the stroke to be 0.072 pt so the laser cutter would recognize the vector cut. Additionally, I added my design with the bunny icon and my information on the top side of the box.

Last, CUT! I wanted to o for a material that was less common, so I chose a piece of material that seemed to be colored acrylic (but I realized later it wasn’t).

This project would have probably cost $10 in the real world, but to me, it would cost $50. I spent approximately 3 hours in the process of making the box from beginning to end ($10/hour), add $5 for the scrap material, and $15 for the wear and tear of the machine and subscription to Illustrator.
