For the water jet cutter, I decided to do something I’ve been wanting to try with metal working and make jewelry. Specifically, I wanted a necklace to match the bracelet I always wear. (It has a design like the one below)
I began by designing a very simple wave in a circle in adobe illustrator, considering which pieces would fall out and which would stay.
Eventually after a lot of curve adjusting, I ended up with this design.
Unfortunately, currently I have been unable to finish the piece. When I was waiting to cut my piece. The machine started having issues where water was spurting from where the sediment used to help the water cut through pieces is supposed to enter into the machine. Even after the lab assistant cleaned out the sediment part of the machine and fixed it, it did the same thing on another attempted cut.
