This week our assignment was to cut a diamond on the water jet cutter, and if we felt special we could add some spice to it. I started this assignment with Oli, and we decided to take a noun from the noun project and then cut it into the diamond. After quickly developing our adobe illustrator files, we took it to the wet lab and started working through the quick start guide. Pretty quickly we had it running with a little help from adulfo and our pieces were cut out. I started my post processing with the sand blaster, and was able to clean all the surfaces and leave it with a nice texture.
(my new favorite tool the sand blaster)
I then sanded the edges to take off anything that was left after the sandblaster.
(my beautifully sanded parts)
And then finally I applied a few coats of a clear coat to make them nice and finished.
