My name is Maddy Tadros Weld, and I am a bioengineering graduate student in the GMI (Global Medical Innovation) program. I previously worked as a Global Health Fellow at Rice360. While I was an undergraduate at Rice I was involved with Chi Alpha and taught children’s tennis.
One thing I have made that I am proud of is a Maternal Continuous Temperature monitor in the Global Health Technologies minor. New to 3D-printing and Arduino at the time, I was excited by how our team worked together to learn new skills and quickly create a working prototype.
In the future, I hope to make baking and kitchen supplies (such as cake stands, spatulas, cooking spoons, storage boxes etc.) to make custom cooking/baking gifts for friends and family.
In this class, I hope to learn in this class is more about silicone molding. I have limited experience with molding and casting and would like to be able to incorporate these features into projects and prototypes. I am looking forward to the semester!
