Introducing Rachel Lee: A Few Fun Things About Me

  1. Who are you and what activities are you engaged in at Rice?
    1. My name is Rachel Lee, I’m a sophomore at McMurtry majoring in bioengineering and pursuing the engineering design minor. As for activities, I am a part of the McM powderpuff team, and I was an o-week advisor for this past summer.
  2. What is one thing that you have made that you are proud of?
    1. This past summer, I was a SEED intern at the OEDK and had the opportunity to develop a lung-heart motion model in conjunction with the Electrophysiology Innovations and Research Department at the Texas Heart Institute. By the end of the 6 weeks, our team was able to hand off a device that utilized 4 sets of motors that modeled the cumulative motion of the lungs and the heart. This device aims to help doctors practice catheter ablations on a moving model rather than a stationary one.
  3. What is one thing that you want to make (this semester or in the future)?
    1. This semester or in the future, I’m hoping to create some etched art on wood.
  4. What is one thing that you hope to learn in ENGI 210?
    1. I hope that in ENGI 210 I’ll familiarize myself with more of the tools in the OEDK, specifically the laser cutting machines.
