HBK : Based on a true story

This was by far the most fun assignment and took the most time. The journey started over 3 weeks ago and we got a slot to use the plasma cutter. The whole time was spent figuring out what was wrong with the plasma cutter. Only Dante’s pieces were cut properly. That same weekend, I went into the machine shop and did all the cutting myself. It took about an hour to cut. After that, I did post-processing: surface grind, file, and rasp. Then I sand-blasted both sides. My plan was to paint both sides with different colors.

I then realized that there’s only orange paint. And 2 of my pieces has paint some paint at the back.

So I had to sand blast those pieces again but put tape so that I’ll only remove paint from one side.

After this process, some paint was still removed on the front but 2 other pieces were good. My plan was to laser etch the back with the process.

Did an experiment cut on wood so that I don’t have to jog after each cut. Had to play with settings a lot.

Finally, I got it!

Cost calculations

Spray paint on amazon: $10/bottle * 1 = $10
Metal Sheet on amazon: $13

Labour = 8 hours x $15/hour = $120

Total Cost = $143
