Hello, I’m Elliot Chae and I am a Freshman Electrical and Computer Engineering student also pursuing an Engineering Design minor. I’m currently involved in academic clubs: Wind Club and Rice Electric Vehicle.
I have dabbled in origami since I was very young and I have picked up the hobby again more recently. With practice, I became proficient in completing increasingly more complex models. I am proud of the origami owl that I made in high school while applying to Rice.
As I develop my basic skills with engineering tools, I want to try to build a type of figurine with movable joints. I assume that I will need to improve my CAD modeling and 3D printing skills as well as develop an understanding of structures in general.
As a new student in ENGI 210, I hope to further develop a wide variety of skills related to the physical building. Specifically, I hope to become better at 3D printing and modeling. However, I am also very excited about the more niche skills such as sewing. I am looking forward to seeing my peers’ unique approaches and executions to their own respective engineering design projects.
