Hey everyone!
My name is Jacob and I am a Lovett junior studying mechanical engineering! I’m hoping to go into the aerospace industry in the future, and my favorite animal is the alpaca.
In terms of Rice activities, I lead the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership Events team and work as a part of Rice Eclipse’s recovery team. (We’re having our recovery rocket launch as well as the L2 certificate launches THIS Saturday, which I’m pretty excited for!)
I’m also an officer for Rice Anime Club, and considering how active I am on Discord, you’ll see me there pretty regularly (open to all Rice students, feel free to join using this link!).
One thing I’m really proud of having made is my certificates rocket, dubbed Silver Soul. It’s about 5 feet long and has been raring to fly again since its initial L1 debut two years ago. This time, though, it’ll have an altimeter, some protective fiberglass coating, and a much more powerful motor behind it, so here’s to hoping it flies and lands successfully (and that weather doesn’t cancel its launch for the 4th time)!
Ever since the beginning of junior year, I’ve wanted to make a funnel/attachment for my massive gallon jug that allows me to fill it up without tilting it. Ten pounds when full is not an easy weight to manage. Other than that, some sort of scoop or leveling attachment for my house back in California would also be nice! For context, the entrance to my house has a dip in the concrete, so water tends to pool up there whenever it rains. So building either of those would be pretty nice, and the process to building those is also something I’d like to get out of ENGI 210.
Can’t wait to get to see and know everyone else in this class!
