3D printing an impossible object

For this project, I downloaded two 3D files from thinkgiverse.com and combined them into one object. I then used FDM and SLA printing to produce 5 identical objects.

First, I selected 2 pieces of object I wanted to combine: a monster from Call of Cthulhu and a dice.

Left one: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3493452

Right one: www.thingiverse.com/thing:1688174

Then, I use Rhino, open them separately, and combine them. Then, I output them into an STL file.

Using Prusa Slicer to create G-code

Then, I input the G-code created into the FDM printer and print out the object. In the meantime, I input the STL file into Preform, send the task to the SLA printer, and print out the object.

The left one is printed out by SLA printer

The right one is printed out by FDM printer

Finally, I printed out 5 identical pieces.

Cost:

Material: $1 for PLA, $3 for SLA

Labor: 3hr * $10/hr = $30

Total: $34
