Cameron’s Apron

Hey guys!

For the past week or so, I’ve been working on my apron, and I am really proud of what I was able to accomplish.

To start off, the inspiration for my apron’s design came from a two YouTube videos, one was made by Vishrutha Creatives and the other by Sewing Work Teaching.

I than began making my apron, I started by folding the black cloth that we received and began cutting the top corners off. Leaving me with an “A” shaped design on the cloth. I then began to fold-in and sew the top piece of the fabric and all of sides of the fabric as well.

It took a little bit of practice to get the right tension and width adjustments but in the end, I was able to successfully sew in the sides of the fabric.

I then had the idea to incorporate a different fabric in my apron, which was much thicker and lighter in cooler. I started off by cutting a long rectangular piece the new fabric and folded a small piece of the fabric over itself so that it looked clean. I then began to fold that piece of the top of my apron and began to sew.

Once I was finished with that, I began to sew some straps for the top and bottom of my apron. I simply folded two long straps in half, sewed them together and then attached them to the top and sides of my apron with a box sew.

I then decided to add a pocket into my apron, which incorporated the left-over pieces of black fabric that I removed during my initial cut and the tan colored fabric for my straps. I cut out a square piece of the tan fabric and sewed a small sliver of the black fabric over the top of it. I then sewed all sides except the top of the fabric into the middle of my apron.
