Mert’s Apron

This week I sewed my own apron which turned out better than I expected at the end because it was kind of challenging for me even though I was doing the beginner level :/

I started with cutting the fabric according to my waist length. Then I used a pattern paper to give it a shape.

However, the pattern and all of my cuts at first wasn’t that great because I didn’t realize that I was using a bad clippers. Then I changed to a different clippers to fix some ugly cuts on the fabric. Even though I was able to make the finalized fabric better, it didn’t look good enough for me so I decided to fold all the edges and sew it through to make it look better. I used needles to hold the folded edges in place.

Then, I picked fabrics for the neck and side ties and measure them to cut.

Before I sew my apron, I practiced with scrap fabric but I was mostly working on fixing the sewing machine since I was using the pedal wrongly which sews very fast and sometimes threads were mixing together. The neck part of my apron doesn’t look good because I start sewing that part and I made so many mistakes even though I figured out how to use the sewing machine properly. But, the I got better operating the machine over time and sewed the other edges better. Lastly, I made boxes to sew the ties on the apron. Overall, it was a fun experience even though it took longer than I expected.
