Hello everyone!
To start off, my partner and I began with the pre-cut pieces of wood.
We used the OEDK’s corner clamp tool on 2 pieces of wood. We began drilling in two pilot holes with corresponding countersinking holes to help drill in two screws to connect the two pieces.
There were a couple of times where we had to fill in some pilot holes and redo a drill because the screw firmly connecting the two planks. We fixed this by filling the hole with a mixture of sawdust and glue and drilling in a different area. We eventually sanded these down so that they would be level with the rest of the wood.
After assembling two of these L-shaped junctions, we gathered 3 more pieces of wood and multiple clamps. We then used the 3 pieces of wood as wedge when drilling the 2 L-shaped junctions together. After the first rectangular piece for the sides were created, my partner went into the woodshop to the route the edges. On another day, I squeezed those 3 pieces of wood back on the bottom of our first rectangular piece for our box. I then drilled in 12 pilot holes, countersink holes, and screws to connect those 3 pieces to the outer rectangular piece, forming our base.
I then began creating more L-shaped junctions using the other pieces of wood that were cut for us to use. There was an edge of a plank that I had to sand by hand because uneven. Causing it to partial connect to another plank of wood.
I then began to drill in the 4 pillars for our box, using pilot holes and counter sink holes.
On another day, my partner and I began completing the 2 other rectangular pieces needed for our box, routing them and then drilling them to the pillars of our box. This led to sanding the edges and surfaces of our box.
For the finishing touches on our crate, we decided to spray paint it blue and adding little droplets of white paint as an artistic touch!
