Finger molding and casting

For my finger molding and casting, I was able to make a finger during class time (yay!) outside. Everything went really smoothly.

I mixed 125ml of water to around 33 grams of algenate to make the mold. After removing my finger from the mold, I mixed 20g of plaster of paris to 10g of water. I ended up adding more plaster of paris until it was a consistency that I liked (not super liquidy). I let the finger dry and came back 24 hours later to take it out of the mold.

I was really scared taking it out because I didn’t want to break the mold but I ended up breaking it.

I had to make another mold and finger so I repeated the same steps as above and came back the next day for my 2nd finger.

Once my second finger was done, I carefully removed the mold and set the two fingers to dry together (even though the first finger was already very dry). I went to eat dinner and came back to spray paint the fingers together.

I wanted a color similar to my skintone and one that looks aesthetic in houses so I chose gold. It sprayed very nicely onto the fingers and they ended up looking pretty cute. Something I find funny is that one of my hands is bigger than the other and for the first finger I used my right hand and for my second finger I used my left and you can really see the size difference between the two.
