Introducing Morgan :)

Hey everyone! My name is Morgan Brinson. I am a fourth-year PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering. My current research is in digital health with diabetes care and management. My passion is to design and provide low-cost healthcare technology to make care more accessible and allow individuals to be in better control of their own health. Health is a necessity in life, and it should not be limited.

Outside of school, I enjoy playing sports, staying active, being a foodie, and doing crafts of all sorts. In undergrad, I worked as a lab tech specialist in my university’s Design and Build Lab — this was my favorite time of the day to make coasters, fidget spinners, art, stickers, and more. From that experience and always finding crafts to do as a kid, I enjoy learning hands-on skills that are applicable to use in everyday life, as well as in a professional career and I am so happy I found this class.

This class presents a great opportunity for me to enhance my skills and boost my confidence as I explore the skills and analyses relevant to medical device applications. I am eager to cultivate my creativity and learn new techniques that will enrich my mini tool kit to better prepare me for my future career.

One design I am proud of is the 3D-printed ACL screw I designed to push efforts of improving ACL surgery recovery.

One design I am looking forward to creating is a medical device, broadly speaking, in rehabilitation and/or wellness. For fun, I hope to start creating furniture/products that can be used in my home and designed with creativity to represent my household.
