Watch your fingers!

For the molding and casting homework, I created two different wall hooks with my fingers. Unfortunately, I was unable to create two of the same pose.

I first created the straight middle finger. It came out well, but I was left wondering what was possible

with this method. The balance of water to alginate worked well, and I used plaster left over that someone had already mixed. I was happy with the screw placement.

In an attempt to push my abilities as a molder/caster, I attempted a more intricate model of two of my fingers. I was very happy with the detail that came out of it.

I tried to create another mold of both of my fingers to fulfill the requirement that there were two of the same shape, but unfortunately by the time I tried to do this mold there was no plaster left. I attempted to use Quik-rete. I followed the directions as listed, but the result was very watery. 24 hours later, I poured my liquid fingers into the trash.

Overall, I am happy with what I learned from this process. It was rewarding to create a very realistic model of my finger with this method and left me curious about what else could be done with these processes.
