Winson

Hey y’all, I’m Winson Lin, a sophomore from Martel studying Electrical Engineering. I’m also the Rover Computational Lead of the Rice Robotics Club.
I love crocheting and this winter break, I made a 10-pound Snorlax that I used for lumbar support when I was feeling lazy.
Something I hope to make in the future is my own acoustic guitar, but it may be more of a pipe dream because it will take quite a while and quality wood for this purpose is hard to source. For someone who’s never had experience constructing acoustic guitars to do it as a pastime, it’s estimated that it will take around 18-20 months without accounting for the inevitable egregious mistake. Cost wise, it would set me back 400-800 dollars depending on the materials I choose and will cost more if I have to scrap parts when messing up.
Something I look forward to learning in this class is the different 2D cutting techniques. I think that learning how to do these well will make the whole guitar thing a little bit easier. Otherwise I’d have to saw and sand all of the wood down myself, which is tedious.
