On this assignment I decided to start working on my final project, on the picture below is an image of my first assignment, as you can see we have cylinders and looks like they are flying, but they obviously aren’t fluctuating and therefore I needed to design something to hold them in the correct position. In this assignment, based on the following project: <http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:278422>, I designed wood pillars that will keep the cylinders in its place.

 

On the thingiverse’s version the holder is made out of PLA which melts very easily, and that is why I decided to make these holds out of wood. Below is a rendering of the base and the holders designed using SolidWorks:

It needs to have two features highlighted in the laser cutter library, this object uses finger joints and also a removable clip joint, they can be seen in the pictures below.
