Justin’s 3D Poison Counter

One of the pieces you need to play Pokemon is a poison counter. Normally, this is just a coin with a skull on it, so I decided to make a bigger, better marker.

For the marker, I designed a cube with 5 open facings and a hollow center which contains a skull slightly larger than any of the openings. This means that, if all goes according to plan, the skull will be freestanding and still contained in the marker.

The marker was sent to the 3D printer on Tuesday after class, but is still being printed. The print job should be finished about 5 minutes into class, at which point it will enter the bath. After that, I’d like to try painting the completed marker to give it a nice, sickly look; it is poisoned, after all.

This is the marker in the printer, as of 12:45PM, Thursday.

EDIT:

Apparently, I must like using 1.5″ measurements, because the counter perfectly slots into my laser-cut dice box compartment. We’ll just pretend that I planned that.

Surprisingly, the counter only needed to be in the bath for 9 hours. I chipped off the rest of the resin, so here’s the finished product:

Also, as promised, that picture of George.
