During the last class. Roy, Lucas, and I took apart a HP scanner and boy did it give us a fight. The top was obviously not meant to come off so it took us three flat headed screwdrivers to pry the plastic coverings apart. Then we had some trouble when we found that most of the screws required a torx screwdriver instead of the standard phillip head, and lo and behold, there was only one torx to pass between all three groups (at least these companies standardize their inconveniences!). But overall we managed to pry away at the scanner and reveal all the inner components. We came away with a few electronic boards (including one with buttons!), a few pieces of double sided mirror, and a pretty nifty motor.
