For our first assignment, the sketching practice, we had to draw 3 cards that would tell us details about the 3 products we had to design… My selections of cards was the following:
So my task would be creating a way to bus drivers play with animals that is also minty fresh!\
During my brainstorm sketching session I had the following ideas:
- Floating hamster balls;
- A petting zoo bus (“Zoos”);
- A hamster ball stirring wheel.
- Floating hamster balls:
My idea for the floating hamster balls was a set of 4 electromagnetic field generator that could be plugged on top of the bus and connected to its battery. The floating balls would be big enough to fit even dogs and composed of a special acrylic (for transparency), containing graphene (for extra strength) and FeO (for magnetic properties) nanoparticles, containing also mint crystals, to mask the bad smell of the animals.

2. The petting zoo bus (“Zoos”):
Here are the sketching:
My second idea was a two-level bus in which the second floor hosts a petting zoo. The product would be the bus itself and I also created a brand for it: “Zoos”
For all the extra weight that come with all the animals and people the bus would need extra large tires, and it would also have to be extra large, so that the animals can have more space for themselves. The bus would also have a cammo painting to provide the safari feeling.
To solve the bad smell problems that come with animals, the cages would be equipped with water and mint extract sprinkles, that also happen to refresh people during very hot day like the ones during Houston’s summer.
3. Hamster stirring wheel:
My last idea consists in a stirring wheel shaped hamster ball. Inside the wheel there are some special treats that keeps the hamster active by constantly chasing it. These treats contain hamster food, water and mint, keeping the little animals fed, hydrated and always smelling. It is also important to notice that the treats come in different texture for a better interaction and amusement of the rodent.
I hope you have liked my ideas/sketches/drawings and I see you next on the second assignment: Low fidelity prototypes!
