For my 3D printing “impossible object” assignment I chose to print a slug. I figured out how long it could be by measuring the egg dimensions, then estimating an allowance for curve in the slug’s body. I printed the first slug on one of the MakerBot FDM printers, and it came out beautifully on the first try. I used a layer height of .15 mm. I then attempted to print on the wet lab printer, but the support material was having a difficult time dissolving out of the joints. Having failed there, I turned to the new Markforged, which I had never used before. With help from Danny, I got the print set up and printed in no time, and the print turned out even better than the first. Below is a picture of the result, featuring an easter egg and my CNC block:
