3D Printing Post

I know how to 3D print I swear! I don’t understand why this took soooooo loooong. I printed several different designs, or I at least attempted to. Maybe 40/30% actually made it to the printer.

Another challenge was resizing to fit in the capsule. I printed several rotating designs that did not like being smaller.

My final design was going to be this toy truck that could move the dump truck. They successfully printed in the FDM Prusa printers, but the SLA (“Which never fails”) failed me and the trucks.

In the end, I found these interlocking pieces that successfully printed in both the FDM and SLA printers.

Cost calculations:

Labor: 4 hours * $10/hr = $40

FDM filament (estimated $0.20 per print) x 6 sets of 5  $6

SLA resin: $1.56

Gumball Containers: $0.20 * 5 = $1

The whole FDM assembly took 7.6 hrs ( x $10/hr of machine time) = $76

SLA approx time = 2.6 hrs (x $15/hr of machine time) = $39

Total: $163.56
