Hi, my name is Krithika! I am a graduate student in the Master of Bioengineering in Global Medical Innovation program. I am also a Product Development Engineering Intern at Starling Medical, a start-up where we are working towards revolutionizing bladder management for those with neurogenic bladders. Fun fact: Starling was founded by a group of Rice students!
I am from Chicago, home of the famous deep dish pizza! I secretly prefer NY style instead but I can never admit that to others back home without starting an argument LOL. I graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2018 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Cell & Tissue Engineering. In between undergraduate and graduate school, I worked at an investment banking firm to gain business and financial experience. Ultimately, I was not passionate about the path I was on and consequently joined Rice’s GMI program! Outside of academics, I love to cook and travel. I am definitely a foodie and I am THAT person who takes a picture or video of the table’s food before we can all start eating. Sorry, not sorry!
One thing that I’ve made that I am proud of is a functional wooden pinhole camera! I would love to make my own night stand and coffee table sometime in the future. I have only done 3D printing at the OEDK so I am hoping to learn how to use other modalities such as laser and water jet cutting. I’m really excited to use my creativity to build and make items!
