Prototyping and Fabricating Garrett

Hello! My name is Garrett French, and I am a sophomore at Jones College from Norman, Oklahoma. I am a mechanical engineering major and am doing the engineering design minor. I am involved in ASME, the Rice Wind Club, and I am also a lifeguard at the Rice Recreation Center. In my free time, I like to spend time with friends, lift weights, and apply to internships.

One thing that I have made that I am proud of is a robotic feeding device, which I made for my ENGI 200 class. It was designed to make it easier for people with cerebral palsy or similar disabilities to feed themselves without assistance.

This semester, I am really looking forward to learning how to design complex 3D-print projects. Some of the projects I have seen on Thingiverse (like the Rocktopus) are really cool and I can only imagine how people create models with such detail and complexity.

One thing that I hope to learn in ENGI 210 is how to use some of the heavy machinery in the machine shop. I have not explored that part of the OEDK yet and am looking forward to expanding my capabilities!
