My name is Sasha Keck and I am a freshman at Lovett College from the Bay Area, California. I am majoring in mechanical engineering and hoping to work on biomedical devices in the future. At Rice, I am a part of the club equestrian team, Society of Women Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
I am proud of the mobility device I built for Harold, a paralyzed dog. It was a year-long capstone project for my high school engineering class. Over the summer, I replicated the device for Fred, another paralyzed dog.
In the future, I’d love to be a part of an engineering design team for prosthetics or assistive technology. While this may not be feasible during college, I hope to be a part of a design team for a similar project in my career.
I am looking forward to learning how to use the waterjet cutter and plasma cutter because I have not had much experience prototyping with metal.
