Tracy’s frist BIOE 677 post

Hello! My name is Yu-Tung Lin, aka Tracy (it’s easier to remember and pronounce), from Taiwan. I’m a 1st year master’s student in Bioengineering program. This is my very first time studying away from my home country. To be honest, I’m pretty excited about things that I’m going to learn here at Rice and BIOE 677 but also kind of afraid that I can’t catch up with others in the class. I found everyone amazing today because y’all have great experience in producing something cool by yourselves. Although I don’t have any experience in engineering and prototyping, I really want to learn the language in this field and also how it works. And it will be great if you can share some tips with me or discuss the idea with me or even just make friends and get to know more about you!

But there is still one thing that I made and I was really proud of myself. This dish is called Braised Pork Belly. You can see many Taiwanese family cooked this and it tastes really good! Normally, the grandma is the one that will make this dish, so is so called “the flavor of grandma”.

Since I came to Houston, I started to learn how to cook and this was just my first time. And it came out very successful! Hope I can also do that well in this class lol.

If I have a chance and enough knowledge someday in the future, I want to make a functional artificial heart, or something that can help sick or injured people get their normal life back. Like I said, I am super new in the engineering field and I appreciate every opportunity to learn everything! I’m very happy to have you all in this class!
