Julian’s Introduction to the World

Hello! My name is Julian Riley, I am a sophomore at McMurtry studying Mechanical Engineering and considering a minor in ENGI. I was born in Houston but have moved around a bit but am back home in Houston. I am involved in clubs like NSBE, BSA, RASA, and will be involved in the Rice Robotics Club as well.

One thing that I made and am proud of is My ENGI120 Project. I was on Team Grasp Assist and we developed a prototype for a device to assist in the grasping motion for a patient with Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (A disease that can cause muscular atrophy). It was very fun to work with my team and get an insight into the Engineering Design Process. One thing that I am looking forward to making this semester is the chess set. I am very interested in the Machines that we will be using to make the chess pieces (Especially the CNC machine). One thing I hope to develop in ENGI210 is a process to going about each of the different Machines to produce a quality product that I can use.
