Tracy’s apron is now officially released!

I always want to learn how to use the sewing machine when I buy new pants that are too long because I don’t have to spend extra money finding someone else to do it for me. Look what I have achieved!

DAY1 – Designing (~ 4hrs total)

So, at the beginning, I tried to use tape measure to know the exact size that I wanted, also designed the type of pocket I wanted on my apron. (~1.5hr)

Then I started to cut out the fabric and began to sew! (sorry for the bad control of the facial expression) Almost forgot to mention! I chose to use the orange thread to sew so that the line is obvious. Kinda want to create a denim style lol.

And here is the result of my first day. Finished the main part of the apron.

DAY2 – Cutting the pocket and straps and sewing them on the apron (~ 3hrs total)

I wanted the color of pockets to be light so I chose the one with some pattern on it rather than the blue fabric. After cutting out the pocket and straps, I began to put them together.

I did two layers on the top pocket and one layer on the two bottom pockets because I think I’m gonna mostly use the one that is near my chest. I might put everything in that pocket, that’s why I used two layers in case I break it. Also, if you look closely at my apron, you will find that the top pocket is a little bit tilt. Don’t ask me why cause I don’t know too. I only found out when I finished that pocket and there was nothing I can do. Let’t just regard it as some kind of art.

Finally, I sewed on the straps using the box stitches and it went well. I also stitched one short strip near the top pocket so I can hang a pen on it. I think that’s convenient.

And there is my final product! I really like how this came out.

With the confident on using a sewing machine, I can fix my own pants and clothes next time! So excited about that!
