Ok, I must admit — I had quite a bit of fun completing this project. The use of the Nomad CNC machine went much smoother than it did with the Final Project, and I was able to complete this homework in about an hour and a half.
I first went to The Noun Project and selected a file. I went with the Japanese character “元”, which is one half of the adjective “元気” meaning “energetic or lively”. I saved the file as an SVG and loaded it into Carbide Create. For the wood, I measured the dimensions and inputted them into the system, readjusted my file, and prepared to cut. I used a pocket cut for the strokes of the character itself and a contour cut for the outer border.
After cutting out the character, I sanded off the artifacts of manufacturing and applied two coats of red spray paint. See below for the finished result!

1×3 Wood ($2.50/8ft bulk ordered for 1 ft): $0.32
Labor ($12/hr for 1.5 hr): $18.00
