Hi,
this is Sumin Jeong, a junior from Brown College majoring in bioengineering.
Recently, I advised during O-Week as a PAA (peer academic advisor) for the new students at Brown College. Outside of class, I usually work in the Lu Lab at BRC.
This summer, I traveled to Costa Rica as part of the iSEED program and took two engineering design classes. I got to work with other teammates to design a Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Device, which is a device used for patients with severe wounds to prevent further infection and promote healing. Given the limited resource and time, we were proud that the device was able to suck up the drainage from the wound and perform pretty well. This was the first time I was engaged in making a medical device which is a field that I am interested in, so I want to design and make more of them in the future.
In this class, I hope to gain experience in different prototyping skills in general, such as 3D printing and laser cutting. I look forward to participating in cool projects using variety of tools OEDK has to offer.
