‘Rice’ to Meet You!!

Hello everyone! My name is Megan Enriquez and I am a sophomore from Brown College majoring in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Engineering Design and Global Health Technologies. I think my largest and most recognizable role on campus is that of Brown College Senator (372 followers) for the Rice University Student Association on behalf of Brown College where I get to have a say in campus-wide changes and make an impact in my local college by hosting events and connecting with my fellow brownies. Outside of being an established politician at Rice University, I’m involved with Period @ Rice and I’m starting to DJ for KTRU!

I’m really proud of the bird brooder I made over the summer with other Rice Student SEED interns, Parnika and Ben. The Bird Brooder keeps baby birds at the right temperature and humidity while in their fledgling period so the Houston Zoo can help raise endangered species of birds. I got to work on the electrical and mechanical components and I contributed several late nights to ensure everything was working. Attached is a photo!

Something I’m excited to make this semester is the wooden box/crate. I have a record player and a few records that need proper storage and I’m excited to use the box as storage/stand for my records/record player. I’m putting in a lot of effort to make the common space in my suite very homey and fun.

I hope I can learn more about CAD and using the laser cutter to create pictures out of wood. I would love to create meaningful signs for my common space and have mementos to remember the ENGI 210 experience.
