Impossible made possible

Hello,

This week we had an interesting assignment. We were supposed to pick out one impossible object and 3D print it with 2 different types of printing methods. Wherein I selected to print it with PLA and Resin. At first I went on thinkverse, there were hundred of different designs available. After a lot of browsing I picked out the ice dragon. It is kind of a movable dragon design. For printing with PLA material I went on prusa where I made the necessary changes in the size and dimensions so that I could be able to fix it in the bubblegum box. Then with the help of the SD crd I transfer my file and then started printing it on the 3D printer, it took many trials and hours to do it but after all they turned out pretty well.

Then I got on work for my second type of 3D printing which was the resin one. This was the most difficult task as I had to wait for days to get it done. However, I processed the same design in the preform where I modified it accordingly and queued it for it to print. After, the printing was done I took it out n put it for washing. Later I air dried it for 5 mins right after that I put it in the UV machine and after all this work finally my printing was done. The post processing took about 2 hours and I got rid of all the supports. Finally it came down to will all of this fit?

But to no ones surprise all of my prints did fit in the bubble gum box and I was finally done with the assignment…

Cost Estimate:

PLA Filament: $0.04 per 2.14g(1 model) = $0.12

Resin: $149.00 per liter ~ 15 ml = $2.24

Labor – Design: $20 per hour ~ 4 hour = $80

Total = $82.36
