Hello everyone! I’m Cassey from Wiess College, a freshman Mechanical engineering student with a minor in Engineering design. In the last semester, I engaged in a project about a temperature-control-based coral tank system in the ENGI120 course, enabling our client, Professor Michael Guston and his team in the Biosciences Department into coral bleaching research. I acquired some new CAD skills, 3D printing, teamwork experience, and so on, with the fundamental goal of learning the engineering design process and implementation. I’m very proud of what our team has done for this project. <Link for the project detail>
ENGI120 is not the first time I have learned CAD. I gained some modeling experience in high school by self-learning and attending architect summer school because I wished to be an architect then. I also utilize this skill when building up my portfolio for college applications. Although I finally found that I’m not into architecture much, designing through software with handmade intrigues me a lot, which is also one of the reasons I decided on my Mechanical Engineering major and Engineering Design minor.
Recently, one of my goals has been to create combos of dice with my style for playing Call of Cthulhu (a role-play game). In ENGI210, I want to learn more about mechanical skills, especially 3D printing and CNC machining. At the same time, I’m looking forward to learning some coding techniques in CMOR220 and COMP140.
