I Star-ted my print in time!

Well, this was a pretty quick homework, and so this will be a pretty quick blog post. But does quick mean painless? Well, usually, yes actually – but not this time. I forgot about the homework until the night before, so I ended up pulling an all nighter to finish the prints, just so that I could make sure I finished treating the resin print appropriately.

I went to thingiverse and found the piece that I wanted – a flexible starfish. I proceeded to download it and load up 4 of them onto a prusa, to be printed via FDM, whilst I waited for the Formlabs resin printers to be available (given the last minute nature of my prints, the resin printers were being used for other prints for the homework).

After a hot minute, the resin printers opened up, and I put my print, alongside two other last minute prints, into the printer. The print, combined with wash and curing times, kept me up until the wee hours of the morning – 6:00 AM, to be precise.

Cost:

3D Printer: $500

Labor $15/hr for 6 hours = $80

Total: $580
