For this project, I molded my pinky finger.
I created a mixture containing a 1:1 volume ratio of water and alginate and placed my finger inside it, in order to create a cast. I waited around 10 minutes for the cast to harden and removed my finger, leaving a hole in the cast of the shape of my finger.
Next, I poured a mixture containing water and plaster to create a mold. I placed a screw inside of the plaster as it hardened, so the screw would become settled into the mold. I waited for the plaster to harden overnight to recreate the finger shape.
Finally, I post-processed the mold by spray painting it with 2 coats of coral spray paint, and 2 coats of a clear gloss UV protectant spray paint. Unfortunately, it got dirty when the coral spray paint was drying, so part of it is unintentionally white, but I think this added a cool effect.
