CNC NC NPC

For our final individual project, we were tasked with using the CNC mills to cut out different shapes using wood. I ended going with design of North Carolina state borders which I took out of nounproject and downloading the SVG file from it. Although the project was simple I made multiple mistakes

I brought the SVG to the CNC computers and prepared but made an error in the setup, I put the z height as 1/2 an inch when it was actually closer to .725 inches, this caused my initial cuts to not cut all the way through and I had to restart. After I made another mistake in not vacumming completely after my failed cuts because my new cut didnt stick because the tape stuck to the dust cause my cut to fail. After learning from these 2 mistakes I restarted and was extremley careful to get it right this time. After everything I was able toget it right and then stained it a brown color.

In terms of cost, a 1×3 in piece of wood that is 8ft long costs around $2.64 according to Home Depot. Since I only use around 6in of total length, I would estimate the wood material to cost roughly $.16. The full can of spray paint I used costs around $6.48 from Home Depot, and since I didn’t use a lot of it, I would estimate the cost of paint to be around $.10. In total I would expect the total cost of both pieces to be around $26.
