For our Molding and Casting homework, we need it to mold/cast our fingers using alginate and later plaster.
I found the texture of alginate quite interesting. It was kind of different from the alginate I am used to see in research and in the lab. I did not know it was actively used in other industries besides bioengineering/biotech.
In class, it was not about exact ratios when making alginate mold but seeing and feeling the viscosity of it. For my mold, I used 1:1 alginate and water. For the plaster part, I used 2:1 plaster and water. Filled the molded fingers with plaster very close to the edge of the holes, and stuck some tape with screws embedded in them to hold them in place once the plaster dried out. Then, demolded and spray painted them yellow.
