Hello there! My name is Evan Ho and I am a sophomore at Jones college. I am majoring in Electrical & Computer Engineering and minoring in Engineering Design with an interest in Patent Law.
On campus, I am involved with the Rice Automotive Club for Engineers, Rice Lion Dance troupe, IEEE, and the Taiwanese Association. I currently work at the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) helping to patent research and the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen (OEDK) as a Lab Assistant. I am also involved with Jones College as a Technology Coordinator & Associate Justice, and Wiess College as an Orientation Week Fellow.
One thing I am proud of making is the Electric Vehicle Dashboard for Rice University’s e-VAN, assembled using parts I pulled out of junkyard cars. Last Spring, I built a custom Android-based digital instrument cluster for the vehicle, mirroring those seen in Honda vehicles. The van is now being used by Rice Housing & Dining.
One thing I want to make this semester are custom figures using the Raise3D SLA Printer and Formlabs Fuse 1 SLS Printer. Specifically, I want to work on designing models for these printers and work on post-processing techniques. Since these printers can provide greater precision than FDM Printers, I am eager to try them.
In EDES 210, I hope to gain proficiency using advanced fabrication techniques particularly with metal, such as with the CNC Machine and the Water jet cutter. I am also looking forward to learning how to make my own molds.
