Hey y’all! My name is Emmie Casey, I am a sophomore from Will Rice College. I am studying Electrical & Computer Engineering with the Engineering Design Minor as well as a Japanese Language Certificate. This is my third semester as a Lab Assistant at the OEDK. I also am involved in SWE and WiSTEM. In my free time I love to craft and create things.

During ENGI 200 I worked with 3 other students to develop a Vibrotactile Glove for Parkinson’s Disease treatment and have been very proud of all the work we accomplished and hope to accomplish in the future. Heres the link to our project: https://oedk.wildapricot.org/Treatment-Glove

This semester I’m excited to learn more about laser cutting. I have done a lot of projects in the past but don’t feel comfortable making something exact and knowing the correct kerf/fits. I am looking forward to learning this more to step up my precision for the future. Using this I am looking forward to the Midterm laser cutting project.

I hope to during this semester outside of this class finally figure out how to use the Makera to build my own 2 layered PCB from scratch. Before break I tried a few times but the routes did not fully line up so I hope to figure this out this semester.

I am super excited for this semester to learn more from everyone around me and fine tune my skills and knowledge of the tools in the OEDK!
