Hey! – Archit K

Hi all, my name is Archit and I’m a Master of Bioengineering student here at Rice! At Rice, I’m researching genome language model interpretability (building an open-source ChatGPT for DNA, then studying the patterns it has). In the past, I’ve worked on neuromorphic ML (AI that looks more like the brain) and tracking satellites in a US Space Force lab.

One thing I’ve made that I’m proud of is a mini-server I built using two Orange Pi microcomputers over winter break. I used it to deploy some basic web apps, but I hope to make it more sophisticated and maybe even run a local podcaster soon.

One thing I want to make in the future is a small modular nuclear fusion reactor that could be used to power hospitals in rural areas. I’m fascinated by the physics behind this and hope to learn more in the coming months.

One thing I hope to learn in ENGI 210 / BIOE 555 is laser-cutting –– wicked cool.

Excited to take this class with you all!
