Hi 🤗

Hi everyone 🤗. My name is Summan Rahman and I am a student in the Global Medical Innovation (GMI) program here at Rice. I am an aspiring medical innovator, seeking to positively impact patients’ lives. Outside of GMI, I’m usually VR gaming, learning to cook/bake something new 🍛, or struggling as I start my new journey of getting into running 🏃🏾‍♀️.

One thing I’m proud of making is a wearable CPR quality indicator — a wearable device used to help CPR providers track the rate, depth, and recoil of their compressions. See the picture below if you want to learn what it looks like.

One thing I want to make this semester, is an automated toy for my cat Felix 🐈‍⬛. I have found that when I’m busy with classes he gets very bored, so I want to create a toy that keeps him mentally stimulated and happy 😄. As you can tell from the picture below, he’s super curious so I’ll need to make something truly creative to keep him entertained.

In ENGI 210, I hope to get a thorough understanding of prototyping techniques and master the art of creating things by hand. I’m particularly excited to learn the CNC machine. I’m looking forward to learning with y’all this semester!
