For my capstone project, I have worked with alginate and plaster so these materials were not new to me. I first measured out and mixed the alginate and water together in a cup. Once it started to thicken, I placed two of my fingers in and held them in place until the alginate solidified.
I then mixed the rockite and water in a separate cup and then poured it into the alginate mold. After I poured the plaster, I set up the clip to hold the heads of the screws into the ends of the fingers.
I waited 24 hours for the plaster to harden and then I removed it from the alginate. The fingers turned out great so I mixed more plaster to pour into my original alginate mold to make my second set of fingers.Once both sets of fingers were casted, I picked a set of fingers and lightly sanded them to smooth out the plaster.
To finish the post-processing, I sprayed two coats of orange spray paint on the fingers. This was an easy and enjoyable assignment!
