Totally nailed it!!

I really hope y’all are not tired of my puns lol.

Hi everyone, this past week I worked on the molding and casting project. It was pretty simple to get my hands (get it lol) on.  We first started by creating the molds in class, which was relatively simple. The hardest part was waiting for the Alginate to get to the right consistency, which took much mixing. Once it hardened, I stuck my finger in to get the mold and waited for it to solidify.

Once it solidified, I used rockite to create the positive of the finger mold and returned a few days later to let the first one finish forming. Once I completed both positives, I disposed of the mold and cleaned the beaker to maintain cleanliness. I then filed it down using 220 grit because the rockite was filing pretty easily, and the 150 would have been too much. There was a mess left on the outside table so I cleaned the filing paper and everything and cleaned off a lot of the filing dust. There were people spray painting, so I did not want to remove the cardboard.

I put my cleaned workspace at the bottom of the page so you can see the difference!

I spray painted these in a deep brown color after I sanded down any imperfections from the mold. I let it dry for about 2 hours, and given the nice weather, it was dry enough to be brought inside.

This is what the fingers looked like when dry.

Also, here is my clean workspace!
