Hi! I’m Asher, a Junior studying Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Design. I’m in Hanszen College and originally from New York City. I’ve been a mechanic at Rice Bikes since my first semester and am currently the Projects Manager, which puts me in charge of our rental program, refurbished bikes and outdoor space.
As part of my internship this past summer, I helped assemble a showplane at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. This was definitely the most difficult thing I’ve ever helped make (over 16 hours, 10+ people and 2 forklifts) but was incredibly fun and rewarding.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it in this course, but I want to make my own tools at some point. I don’t have any specific ones in mind, but I think it would be cool to make something I can use to make other things.
Overall, though, I hope to gain experience in a variety of manufacturing methods this semester and learn how to apply them in future projects. I’ve always enjoyed hands on work and building things, so I’m very excited for this class!
