Hi everyone, my name is Kairong Xu, you can call me Kerry. I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering student focusing on machine learning. I am currently working in the SCOPE lab https://scopelab.rice.edu/ and researching Alzheimer’s disease with AI models. I enjoy making things, ranging from AI models to auto farms in Minecraft. I also love to watch people making hammers and toys on YouTube. However, without proper machinery and a tutor, I did not have the chance to make my own stuff completely from scratch. I have spent lots of time doing coding and circuit work in the past. This semester, I wish to learn about the intimidating machines and do some tangible and physical stuff. I am proud of making and assembling a remote control car for my little sister. She is really happy with all the little toys I made and assembled. Therefore, my sister now attends engineering classes every day, and she really enjoys it. I hope she won’t surpass me in the near future, which is another reason for me to attend EDES210. I want to make a drivable F1 in the future. It must look cool, and the speed does not matter. I hope to learn the cutting skills in EDES210 so that I can cut the doors, rear wing, and hood for the cars.
