I’m Justin, a Senior at Rice studying electrical and computer engineering, and I’m also active with Rice EMS. One project I’m proud of is my Eagle Scout project, where I designed and built benches that are still in use today (see attached photos). I already have experience with woodworking and 3D printing, but I haven’t worked with sewing, metalworking, molding, or laser cutting. This semester, I’m looking forward to making another woodworking project, possibly a piece of furniture that’s both functional and well-finished, while also starting to learn new fabrication methods. In ENGI 210, I hope to build confidence with the full range of equipment in the OEDK so I’ll have a stronger toolbox of skills for my senior design capstone project.
