Hi! I’m Sammie, and I’m a sophomore from Jones majoring in Civil Engineering with minors in Engineering Design and Creative Writing. At Rice, I’m in charge of Jones’ Arts & Wellness committee, which hosts hands-on arts-and-craftsy events that anyone can enjoy. This semester, I’m also starting research with a civil engineering group, which I am very excited about.

One thing I’ve made that I’m proud of is an architectural design project I did in high school. I had to design an assisted living facility and build a detailed physical model of it with my team. Our project placed 2nd at the state competition and 6th at nationals! In the future, I want to help design and build actual buildings (hence why I chose civil engineering). In this class, I hope to gain lots of experience using different tools and techniques so that I can make even more cool things!
